Selling to US enterprises? Start with the right SOC 2 path.
Your next enterprise deal shouldn’t stall because you’re unsure what security evidence your buyer needs. Holam helps B2B SaaS and AI companies understand buyer requirements and connect with suitable compliance platforms and independent specialists.
We are paid by providers when customers engage them. There is no advisory fee to you. Providers set their own prices.
What US buyers usually ask for
Enterprise procurement and security teams want evidence before they share data with a new vendor. It usually arrives in one of these forms.
“Please send your SOC 2 report.”
The most common request from US enterprise buyers, especially in B2B software.
“Complete our security questionnaire.”
Often hundreds of questions. A SOC 2 report and a clear security overview make these much faster.
“We need a BAA” or “Are you PCI compliant?”
Healthcare and payments buyers add sector rules, such as HIPAA or PCI DSS, on top.
Type I or Type II?
Both are SOC 2 reports issued by an independent CPA firm under the AICPA Trust Services Criteria. Security is always in scope; availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy are added when they fit your product.
Designed correctly, at one point in time
The auditor checks that your controls are designed appropriately on a specific date. Faster to complete, and a common first step to unblock a near-term deal.
Operating effectively, over time
The auditor tests that your controls actually worked over an observation period, often several months to a year. This is the version most enterprise buyers expect in the long run.
Platform, auditor, or both?
Choose the right combination of platform and expert support, without paying for services you don’t need.
Compliance platform
Connects to your cloud, code, identity and HR tools, tracks controls and collects evidence. Saves most of the manual work.
Independent auditor
A licensed CPA firm that performs the audit and issues your SOC 2 report. Only an auditor can issue it.
Expert support
Help with scoping, policies and fixing gaps. Some platforms include it, some teams need more, some need very little.

Based in Europe and selling to the US?
Many US buyers ask for SOC 2 even if you already hold ISO 27001. Much of the security work overlaps, so we help you plan both in the right order, without doing everything twice.
How we choose providers, and how we are paid
Holam receives a referral fee from providers we introduce when you engage them. You pay the provider directly; we add nothing to their price and you remain free to choose another provider.
What our recommendation is based on
- The standard your buyer actually requires
- Your current tech stack and cloud setup
- Company size and stage
- Total cost, including the audit
- How much expert support you need
- Your customer’s deadline
Questions about SOC 2
Short answers. The SOC 2 guide goes deeper.
Do I need SOC 2 Type I or Type II?
Type I shows your controls are designed correctly at one point in time and can be completed faster. Type II shows they actually operated over an observation period and is the version most enterprise buyers expect. Many startups start with Type I to unblock a deal, then move to Type II.
Is a compliance platform the same as an auditor?
No. A compliance platform helps you implement controls and collect evidence. An independent CPA firm performs the audit and issues the SOC 2 report. Some providers bundle both or work with partner audit firms.
We are based in Europe. Does ISO 27001 replace SOC 2 for US buyers?
Often not. Many US buyers specifically ask for a SOC 2 report. The good news is that much of the underlying security work overlaps, so you can plan both without doing everything twice.
How does Holam get paid?
Holam receives a referral fee from providers we introduce when you engage them. There is no advisory fee to you, and providers set their own prices. We add nothing to them.
